Recently, researchers from the Eighth Hospital affiliated to Guangxi Medical University published a paper to compare the effects of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and Doppler ultrasound in the diagnosis of breast cancer. The study pointed out that MRI is the first choice for breast cancer diagnosis, and it has clinical value in combination with ultrasound. The article was published in the 2014 issue of Guangxi Medical Journal.
MRI and Doppler ultrasonography were performed in 92 patients with suspected breast cancer before operation and compared with the pathological results after surgery.
Pathological examination showed that 76 cases were breast cancer, including 56 cases of invasive ductal carcinoma, 12 cases of mucinous adenocarcinoma, 8 cases of intraductal carcinoma, and 16 cases of benign mass. The detection rate of MRI breast cancer was 97.37%, the ultrasound was 75.00%, the detection rate of MRI was higher than that of ultrasound (P<0.05); the sensitivity of MRI combined with clinical diagnosis was 93.82%, which was higher than that of ultrasound combined with 86.36%. The specificity of MRI combined with clinical diagnosis was 71.26%, which was similar to that of ultrasound combined with 78.19%. The rate of missed diagnosis of ultrasound was significantly higher than that of MRI (P<0.05).
