Tainan broiler farm is infected with bird flu virus

The bird flu epidemic hit the meat and poultry market. Taiwan’s largest wholesale trading market in Taipei resumed slaughter transactions yesterday morning. The transaction was deserted and the vendors were sad.

According to Taiwan’s “United Daily” report, Taiwan’s bird flu continues to spread. Following the fall of Taoyuan, Changhua, Yunlin, Chiayi, Tainan, Kaohsiung, and Pingtung counties in the western coastal areas, Nantou County’s egg-and-duck flu was yesterday (14th). The ducks were only violent.

As of last night, the number of infected farms has increased to 86 farms and a total of 340,000 poultry have been affected. Among them, 40 confirmed cases were infected with a highly pathogenic H5 virus, 23 of which had been culled and violent. More than 110,000 birds were culled.

At noon yesterday, the Water Bird Quarantine Order was lifted. Zhang Shuxian, director of the “preventive inspection agency,” said that before the 18th day of the game, it was a buffer period. When the breeders sent ducks and geese to the slaughterhouse, a veterinary inspection of the slaughterhouses confirmed the health of the duck geese before they could be slaughtered in the slaughterhouse.

From the 18th onwards, a new system for epidemic prevention will be implemented. The breeding company shall produce the duck geese health diagnosis certificate issued by the licensed veterinarian within three days and be approved by the veterinarian to be slaughtered.

Zhang Shuxian said that 20 other poultry farms within 3 kilometers of the tainted broiler farm in Tainan will strengthen monitoring and control.

According to the “Accomplishment Administration” statistics, as of yesterday, a total of 392 poultry farm workers were under surveillance, of which 21 had mild cold symptoms and 9 had already been tested. Among them, 3 were confirmed to be uninfected and 6 remained. Still in the inspection, no symptoms of bird flu have been reported.

Taiwan’s “Council of Agriculture” yesterday also decided to compensate the affected farmers. Before the official announcement of the H5N8 and new H5N2 epidemic on January 11th, the six poultry farms that had reported on their own initiative could receive full subsidies for the culled birds. The operators who reported after January 11th had 60% of the culled birds.
