Mobile phones and computers can test hardware performance and prompt vulnerabilities through special "running software", and the human body is actually possible. American scientists have developed a "virtual heart" that enables high-precision, personalized simulation of the heart. The model established by this technology can evaluate the condition of patients with heart disease, find problems in advance, prevent micro-duration, and help them stay away from the risk of arrhythmia.
Arrhythmia refers to the irregular beating of the heart, a common symptom of heart disease and a major cause of sudden cardiac death. At present, the clinically widely used diagnostic methods do not take into account the specific differences in the patient's heart geometry, so there is often a problem of inaccurate recognition of high-risk patients and limited treatment effects.
Natalya Teyanova, a professor at Johns Hopkins University in the United States, and her research team hope to use technical means to solve this problem. They performed MRI on 41 patients who had experienced a heart attack and computerized their ECG activity and heart geometry. Then, based on the calculation of the heart muscle wall geometry and the stability of the ECG activity, the researchers can evaluate the arrhythmia tendency of each "virtual heart" and score. After using the patient's clinical data and reviewing the results of these studies, they found that the new method performed much better in predicting arrhythmia than the current method.
The Teyanova team published a paper in the latest issue of Nature-Communication, saying that although the “virtual heart†has not been validated in other studies, this non-invasive, personalized risk assessment tool has shown Great potential in preventing sudden cardiac death. In addition, it can provide advice for patients with heart disease who need to implant a cardiac defibrillator, which is expected to reduce many unnecessary operations.
