Negative ion and plasma methods work to remove indoor particulate contaminants. They are caused by charging particles in the air and coalescing to form larger particles to settle, but the particles are not actually removed, but attached to nearby surfaces. It is easy to cause dust again.

Electrostatic electrets are those dielectric materials that are capable of storing space charge and dipole charge for a long period of time, that is, their time decay is constant over the period of time formed by the electret.
