1 hypoglycemic effect
Indians have reported that Hainan Syzygium seeds are clinically treatable for diabetes. Experiments have shown that the alcohol extracts of seeds are orally administered to male rabbits and have a hypoglycemic effect. Their strength is similar to D860 and slightly weaker. Allergic oral alcohol extracts from alloxan-induced diabetic rats (simultaneously with or after alloxan injection for 5 days) can reduce blood glucose to normal, urine sugar disappears, and polyphagia improves. For normal rats, a small intraperitoneal injection of a large amount or a large amount of the above extract can make blood glucose rise and then drop, while the middle amount can increase blood glucose. Daily intraperitoneal injections of small amounts also result in a slight decrease in blood glucose. A large number of oral administration does not affect the blood glucose level. If oral administration is continued for 3 days, the blood glucose will rise slightly or decrease slightly afterwards. Subcutaneous injections of water extracts from dogs have significant and long-lasting hypoglycemic effects. Oral administration has no effect and bark extracts have no hypoglycemic effect.
