Stone eggplant, also known as the simple eggplant, has a small, hard texture and is inedible. The main reasons for this are the low temperature or high temperature during flowering, poor pollen development, inability to fully fertilize, resulting in parthenocarpy, or an imbalance in nutrient supply due to excessive growth of the plants, and weaker growth potential when the plants are treated with growth regulators. The number of fruit per plant is too many, and there is less assimilation of the fruit assigned to each fruit. The result will also form a stone eggplant. In addition, plants grown under conditions of dry, high-fertilizer (root-burning), and water-inferior environments have reduced assimilation of nutrients and produce a large number of grenadines.

Gemini eggplant. It is due to excessive nutrients, that is, in addition to meeting the nutrients required for the development of the growing point, the excess nutrients cause the cell division to be excessively vigorous and form the malformed fruit in the ovary, which mainly occurs in the flower bud differentiation period. When flowers are exposed to low temperatures, excessive nitrogen fertilizers, adequate water, or excessive use of growth regulators, it is easy to form gemini.

Split eggplant has split and split two. The cleavage is mostly due to the excessive use of growth regulators, repeated use for many times, or high-temperature use at noon. In addition, there are many occurrences of overgrowth plants. There are two causes of fruit cracking. One is that the tea plant damages young fruit and causes cracking of the fruit. Second, during the process of fruit enlargement, sudden rainfall or flooding occurs after the drought. Under low temperature conditions, the use of foliar fertilizers, pesticides, and hormone-like substances that promote fruit growth results in a lower rate of skin growth than the rapid development of placental tissue and the formation of cracks.

Umbilical cracking fruit. The rind of the umbilical part of the eggplant is split so that the placenta tissue and seeds are sometimes rolled outwards and exposed. This is called the umbilical crack. The reason for this is the lower temperature at which the flower buds differentiated, resulting in the division of the style, which resulted in the formation of cracks in the umbilicus. The prevention measure is to avoid the temperature below 15°C during flower bud differentiation.

Matte fruit mostly occurs in the later period of fruit development. During drought, the water transported from the plants to the fruit is insufficient, the luster on the surface of the fruit disappears, and the swelling of the fruit is inhibited to form inferior fruits.

In addition, there are coloring problems. The purple pigment of eggplant accumulates in the cells under the epidermis and gradually appears purple. The formation and accumulation of pigments are related to light.
