The newly grafted fruit tree seedlings, due to the wound healing, have poor stress resistance and are prone to frost damage in winter. In order to ensure safe wintering of newly grafted fruit trees, the following technical measures should be taken.
1. Fill the frozen water timely. Before the soil freezes, the seedlings trails or furrows are ploughed with furrows or artificially ditchered, followed by pouring frozen water into the ditch, and the perfusion must be filled. Therefore, when the soil begins to freeze, it contributes to the soil insulation and maintains sufficient moisture in the soil to meet the water consumption of the fruit trees during the winter.
2. Root and neck soil. Before the freezing, the root of the grafted fruit tree seedlings is cultivated to a depth of 20 cm to prevent the roots from freezing, so as to facilitate safe wintering of the seedlings.
3. Set the cold barrier. According to the terrain of the nursery, use corn stalks before the soil freezes, place a windbreak every 23 seedbeds (or seedlings), or stack a mound about 50 centimeters high on the northwest side of the young seedlings for wind protection.
4 seedlings dry white. Take 5 kg of quicklime and 0.5 kg of salt and separate them with water. After mixing, add 0.5 kg of vegetable oil and 0.5 kg of lime sulfur to prepare a whitening agent. Brush or sprinkle on the seedlings before the soil is frozen to make the whole seedlings. The surface is white or gray, not only reflecting sunlight, preventing rapid temperature changes, enhancing cold resistance, but also effectively preventing and treating wintering pests on the trunk.
