In this study, the researchers analyzed 1628 typical autistic patients, 1564 patients with generalized developmental disorders, 276 patients with Asperger syndrome, and 2299 control populations, from new mutations and disease-causing genes. The brain expression pattern and biological pathways are used to analyze the genetic correlation of three subtypes of autism. The study found that typical autistic patients and patients with extensive developmental disorders share a large number of new mutations, pathogenic genes, brain expression patterns and biological pathways, but Asperger syndrome patients show more specificity.
