Children's suffering in China is on the rise
Oral diseases such as rickets and periodontal diseases are common diseases and frequently-occurring diseases affecting the health of Chinese residents. They not only affect the physiological functions and aesthetics such as chewing and pronunciation, but also are closely related to systemic diseases such as stroke, heart disease, diabetes and digestive diseases. relationship.
In order to understand the oral health status of urban and rural residents, China conducted three oral health epidemiological surveys in 1983, 1995 and 2005 respectively. In 2015, under the guidance of the Department of Science and Education of the National Health and Family Planning Commission and the organization of the CDC, China conducted the fourth national oral health epidemiological survey and selected representative age groups in 31 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities). A total of 172,000 people were examined for oral health and questionnaires.
"Oral health prevention is the mainstay, we must start from the doll. If you don't pay too much attention to oral health when you are young, the problem of the elderly's oral cavity will be more obvious." Chang Jile, the ombudsman of the National Health and Family Planning Commission.
It is reported that the World Health Organization uses the average number of caries in 12-year-old children as an indicator to judge the prevalence of caries in each country, and stipulates that 1.2 or less is a very low level of caries. The survey found that the average number of caries in China's 12-year-old children was 0.86. "This shows that the prevalence of dental caries in our country is at a low level." Chang Jile said.
However, the situation of children in our country is on the rise. Among them, the prevalence of permanent teeth in 12-year-old children was 34.5%, an increase of 7.8 percentage points from a decade ago. The 5-year-old child's deciduous tooth rate was 70.9%, an increase of 5.8 percentage points from a decade ago.
"A lot of parents think that deciduous teeth will fall sooner or later, and permanent teeth protection will be good, but in fact, if oral health care is not performed during the deciduous period, there will be no healthy oral environment when changing teeth, which will also affect the growth and development of permanent teeth." Chang Jile pointed out.
The survey found that the level of utilization of oral health services by parents of children in China has improved. The proportion of teeth filled with dental caries in a 5-year-old child is 4.1%, and the proportion of teeth in a 12-year-old child with a filling treatment is 16.5%. This figure is nearly 50% higher than a decade ago.
In the prevention of dental caries in children, Wang Xing, consultant and former president of the Chinese Stomatological Association, suggested that children should develop correct tooth brushing habits, use fluoride toothpaste, and use the correct method to brush their teeth every day. The data shows that correct brushing with fluoride toothpaste can reduce rickets to 25%-40%. In addition, pit and fissure closure is an effective means to prevent the occurrence of rickets, but children who have completed the pit and fissure can not ignore the daily brushing.
Middle-aged people's periodontal health needs to be improved
The survey found that middle-aged people's periodontal health still needs to be improved. Among the 35-44 year olds, the detection rate of oral calculus was 96.7%, which was not much changed compared with ten years ago; the detection rate of gingival bleeding was 87.4%, which was higher than that of ten years ago. 10.1 percentage points.
There are several reasons for Wang Xing's analysis of this situation. First, middle-aged people are under great pressure to work. It is difficult to put the oral cavity on an important agenda and pay attention to it. This is a common phenomenon. Second, middle-aged people have relatively poor oral health awareness. In the past, there was a saying that dental disease is not a disease. This is a long-standing concept of oral health. It has not caused enough attention to the general mild periodontal unhealthy condition.
"If you work harder, you can't ignore oral health. Once you ignore this problem, you will have a hard time after you get old, your teeth will fall, your chewing function will be lost, and your quality of life will become very poor." Wang Xing stressed that in the future To work hard in the middle-aged population and do more work, let everyone realize that if the middle-aged population does not pay attention to periodontal health, it will endless troubles and bring a series of health problems.
In this regard, Chang Jile said, "Middle-aged people need to further improve oral health care awareness, develop good habits, regular oral examinations, and timely clean teeth. In view of the current situation of occupational population periodontal health needs to be promoted, advocate oral health Check the inclusion of physical examination, pay attention to health education, widely disseminate regular oral examinations, scientific brushing, use of fluoride oral toothpaste and other good oral hygiene habits, and gradually improve oral health behavior."
In addition, Wang Xing suggested that the oral health education of the general public should be intensified, and oral health education plans should be formulated for the characteristics and specific problems of oral health in different age groups and different age groups to achieve true full coverage.
