Previously, in the hospital where Alipay "Future Hospital" was launched, only the outpatient fee was paid, and the hospitalization fee payment function was not activated.
The newly-elected Sixth Hospital affiliated to Sun Yat-sen University has realized the function of hospitalization payment for the first time, plus the functions of mobile registration, inter-diagnosis payment, inspection report, department navigation, service evaluation, medical insurance settlement and so on. This means that the user can go to the Sixth Hospital affiliated to Sun Yat-sen University for medical treatment, from the registration of the outpatient service, payment, investigation report, to the hospitalization list, and payment, the entire process can be completed with Alipay wallet.
According to Alipay, the hospital payment function allows users to use the Alipay wallet for prepayment deposits, hospital renewals, and hospitalization list enquiries. To complete the Alipay wallet user bound to the hospital visit card, as long as you have completed the hospitalization procedure, you can use the Alipay wallet to directly pay the hospital deposit. In case the hospital deposit is insufficient, Alipay Wallet will remind the user to renew the fee. And all the list of hospitalization expenses, users can check in the hospital service window of Alipay wallet.
This is the first time that Alipay has achieved service coverage for inpatients since the launch of the “Future Hospitalâ€, marking the “future hospital†optimization of medical service processes, which has been extended from outpatient to inpatient departments.
After half a year of warm-up, the construction of Alipay's “future hospital†began to accelerate. The market expects that more than 100 hospitals will join the “Future Hospital†program in 2015, and Alipay announced that China's medical and health services will enter the “future hospital†era.

However, the medical insurance reimbursement function of the Sixth Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, which is on the line of Alipay, is not a real-time settlement. It still maintains the previous methods of use in many online hospitals, that is, paying fees first, and then eliminating the reimbursement part through medical insurance terminals. Therefore, most local medical insurance is cautious about “future hospitalsâ€. And the systems of various hospitals are inconsistent. There is also a difference in the medical insurance settlement system. The cooperation between medical insurance and Alipay is still difficult. However, in the era of universal health insurance, the access of medical insurance has become the key to the survival of “future hospitalsâ€.
