China's wetland protection area is 1.03 million hectares

According to the State Forestry Administration, by 2011, China had established more than 550 wetland nature reserves, 41 internationally important wetlands, and 213 national wetland parks. About 50% of the natural wetlands have been effectively protected, and nearly 80,000 hectares of wetlands have been restored. . The main rivers and rivers and lakes in the middle and lower reaches of the wetland, the main marsh wetland rescue protection, ecological conditions of wetland in some project areas have improved significantly.

It is reported that during the 10 years from the beginning of 2003 to the beginning of 2012, wetland protection has been incorporated into China's national economic and social development plans. The State Council approved the National Wetland Protection Project Plan (2002-2030) and the National Wetland Protection Project Implementation Plan (2005-2010). The state has implemented policies and measures to rescue wetlands. The General Office of the State Council issued special documents in 2004 to make explicit provisions on the development and construction of wetland nature reserves, national wetland parks, and the prohibition of arbitrary reclamation and acquisition of wetlands. Since the "Eleventh Five-Year Plan", the state has also taken various measures to make the wetlands more effectively protected.

The State Forestry Administration stated that in the past 10 years, wetland parks in China have become an important means of wetland protection. In the newly built 213 national wetland parks, the wetland protection area has reached 1.03 million hectares.
