Pigs have thick subcutaneous fat, and it is difficult to dissipate heat. If the temperature is too high in summer, the appetite of the pig will be reduced, the weight gain will be slowed down or stagnated, and even the heat stroke may be dead. Usually, the suitable temperature for growing piglets is 20-30°C, the early period of fattening pigs requires 18-20°C, and the fattening pigs require 15-18°C. Therefore, in addition to newborn pigs, when the temperature reaches above 30 °C, comprehensive measures should be taken to reduce the temperature and prevent heatstroke, so as to avoid adverse effects on the normal growth of pigs. The following four main measures should be taken.

1, ventilation

Ventilation is one of the important measures for the heat dissipation of the pig house. In the summer season, the front and rear doors and windows of pig houses should be open to promote air circulation. In high-temperature and hot summer months, poorly ventilated intensive pig houses should be equipped with fans or fans to implement mechanical ventilation and eliminate house heat and air in order to prevent pigs from suffering heatstroke.

2, cooling and cooling

That is, cold water is sprayed on the floor of a pig house, pig body, roof, sports ground, etc. This is one of the effective measures for cooling and preventing heatstroke.

3, green shade

There should be planned tree planting around the pig house to create a cool environment. Outside the house, take a arbor, plant some vines, and let them climb on top of the pig house to cool the shade and avoid direct sunlight on the pig house.

4, build a bath

In conditional pig farms, baths for pigs should be added to the pig's playground in the summer to facilitate heat gain. The bath can be made of masonry and cement. Generally, it can be 0.5 meters deep. On one side, it is a slope within 30 degrees and is built into small steps to prevent pigs from slipping.
