Calcium is an indispensable element to maintain the hardness of grape berries. Insufficient calcium content in grape berries, especially in the peel, can easily cause the flesh to rot and brown and the berries to detach from the ears. Spraying calcium before grape harvest can increase the calcium content of grape berries, improve grape quality and yield, and increase economic benefits. Therefore, spraying calcium before grape harvest is a very important measure.

From 1 month to 10 days before grape harvesting, calcium can be sprayed during this period, preferably calcium nitrate. During the ripening period of grape berries, the earlier the calcium spraying time, the easier it is to be absorbed, and the spraying concentration can be relatively low; the closer to the harvest period, the higher the concentration should be. The author's experiment shows that the concentration of calcium sprayed 1 month before harvest is preferably 1%, and the concentration of calcium sprayed 10 days before harvest can be 1.5%. It is better to spray calcium on grape leaves before 10 in the morning and in the evening. On a sunny day with high temperature and dryness, the concentration of calcium spray should be lower. It will rain within 8 hours after calcium spray, and the spray can be refilled once the weather is fine after rain.
